    – Spring 2015

    1. Attention Getter and Relate to Audience: I believe in the tapping of cleats, the thud of a basketball, the crack of a baseball, and the boom of a starting pistol. I believe in the roar of the crowd, and the silence of a pre-game prayer. I believe in brotherhood, leadership, and excellence. 2. Establish Credibility: As a child I spent my weekends and summers traveling to wrestling, basketball, and baseball tournaments. As I grew older and the time commitments grew larger, I spent my mornings before school lifting and my afternoons at practice. What seemed like every day of my high school athletic career I was trying to better myself to become the best athlete that I could be. 3. Thesis Statement: Athletics have taught me many valuable life lesson and thus, I believe in the power of sports. 4. Preview of Main Points: While sports have taught me multiple life lessons, this morning I will be discussing three specific areas: teamwork, leadership, and perseverance.

Transition: Without teamwork there is no team, and as we have been told a million times before, there is no I in team.

    Body of Speech:
    1. Teamwork
    a. Working together to achieve the same goal
    i. As a running back you cannot gain yards without an offensive line. You can’t make a play at home plate without a catcher, and you can’t catch a football without a quarterback. Playing a sport teaches you how to work as a one cohesive unit to achieve your ultimate goal. ii. Whenever we lost a game, one of the contributing factors was the fact that we did not play together as one. iii. Outside of sports, for example, doctors in the operating room need their team of nurses to work together as one to ensure that their surgery is successful. iv. CEOs need their management, accounting, and marketing teams to work and build off one another to run a successful company. b. Support

ThisIbelieve …. Ibelieve that depression isn’t an illness but a normal feeling that human beings experience. Medications that are given for depression are basically fighting the own human mind. Depression is inevitable, instead of looking for medications that will temporarily make you feel better, look towards god for mercy and healing. Ibelieve that all human beings go through the same emotional rollercoaster throughout life. Whether it’s, anxiety, depression, or even being happy at times, this cycle of uncontrollable emotions never ends. The brains human nature shouldn’t have to be fought of with different types of medications that claim to heal you, when really God is the ultimate healer. Ibelieve that depression is not one feeling but many feelings at once. It causes us to be confused and scared. Anxiety affects most of the human mind some people struggle with the feelings more than others and it will affect their normal routines and life. Do you really think medication would make you a happy person? Its gods love for us that makes us happy and what he gives to us which we should be thankful for. At times, you may get depressed and feel like the world is ending. Well, medication won't make your world build back up. Praying will really bring great results and heal your issues. God made the human mind amazingly! There.

during the early 2nd century AD, possibly as early as the year 105 A.D.,[1] by the Han court eunuch Cai Lun, although the earliest archaeological fragments of paper derive from the 2nd century BC in China.[2] The modern pulp and paper industry is global, with China leading production and the United States behind it.To make pulp from wood, a chemical pulping process separates lignin from cellulose fibers. This is accomplished by dissolving lignin in a cooking liquor, so that it may be washed from the cellulose fibers. This preserves the length of the cellulose fibers. Paper made from chemical pulps are also known as wood-free papers–not to be confused with tree-free paper. This is because they do not contain lignin, which deteriorates over time. The pulp can also be bleached to produce white paper, but this consumes 5% of the fibers. Chemical pulping processes are not used to make paper made from cotton, which is already 90% cellulose. The microscopic structure of paper: Micrograph of paper autofluorescing under ultraviolet illumination. The individual fibres in this sample are around 10 µm in diameter. There are three main chemical pulping processes. The sulfite process dates back to the 1840s, and it was the dominant process before the second world war. The kraft process, invented in the 1870s and first used in the 1890s, is now the most commonly practiced strategy. One advantage is a chemical.

Greetings. I am Hayao Miyazaki. It is nice to meet you. I am one of many of Japan's greatest animation directors, animators, and manga artists. The charming plots, realistic characters, and stunning animation in my films have earned me international renown from critics as well as public recognition within Japan. Walt Disney Company has introduced my films to the rest of the world to let more people appreciate my wonderful works I have given the movie-going public. I was born in Tokyo on January 5, 1941. I started this career in 1963 as an animator at the studio Toei Douga studio, and was involved in many early classics of Japanese animation. From the beginning, I got attention with my incredible drawing ability and almost endless stream of movie ideas I had. At age 30, I moved onto the A Pro studio, then to Nippon Animation two years later, where I mainly worked on TV animation series for the next five years. At age 37, I finally directed my first TV series, then moved to Tokyo Movie Shinsha to direct my first movie. When I was 43, I released the movie “Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind”, based on the manga I worked on when I wasn’t busy making animated films. The success of this film led to the creation of Studio Ghibli, at which.

ThisIbelieve What is life, how did it start and who created it? No one really knows how life was created and how it evolved. Scientist believe that life is the condition that distinguishes animals and plants from inorganic matter, including the capacity for growth, reproduction, functional activity, and continual change preceding death. Beyond our earth there are unknown billions of miles of space that includes galaxies, solar systems and planets. Earth is 4.5 billion years old however the universe is 14 billion years old. The earliest forms of humans were documented to be on earth 200,000 years ago. This time frame is microscopic compared to the time span of our universe. Ibelieve that there is extraterrestrial life beyond our planet and that aliens have been to earth in the past. Many famous scientists, such as Stephen Hawking, Albert Einstein, and Miyuki Hatoyama, believe in extraterrestrial life. Experts base their belief on statistics of huge numbers that extraterrestrial life has the high probability of existing. There are billions of galaxies that have millions of solar systems and trillions of planets. Many of these planets must have some type of life form due to the infinite probabilities. Recently, NASA discovered that Mars has ice on the surface which indicates water was present when the planet was warmer. The most important element to sustain.

English 8CP ThisIBelieve . Writing Instructions [modified from: http://www.thisibelieve.org] The ThisIBelieve essay form is based on a 1950’s radio program of the same name, where Americans from all walks of life shared their personal philosophies and core values that guided their daily lives. In your essay, you will narrow this focus, writing only a statement of personal religious belief. Below are some suggestions to guide you through this process. Name your belief: If you can't name it in a sentence or two, your essay might not be about belief. Also, rather than writing a list, consider focusing on one core belief. Tell a story: Be specific. Take your belief out of personal experiences and ground it with specific events of your life. Consider moments when religious beliefs were formed or tested or changed. Think of your own experience and family, and tell of the things you know that no one else does. Your story need not be heart-warming or gut-wrenching; but it should be real. Make sure your story ties to the essence of your religious philosophy and the shaping of your personal beliefs. Be brief: Your statement should be between 350 and 500 words. That's about three minutes when read aloud at your natural pace. Be positive: Please avoid preaching or editorializing. Tell what you do believe . not what you don't.

did not want to elephant because it was harmless; therefore, it was unnecessary to kill this valuable elephant against his conscience. There is also a parallelism between the elephant and the imperialism of the British Empire. He did not want to conduct the act because it was too cruel to accept the fact that he is executing the inferior. (b) Analyze Cause and Effect: What is the primary factor influencing Orwell’s decision to shoot the elephant? The primary factor influencing Orwell’s decision was the attitude of the local Burmese police. Orwell wanted to appear to be a trustworthy and courageous man since he was the alien in the culture. He did not want to be patronized; he kept going against his will, doing what he did not want. (c) Interpret: What does his decision, and his honesty about it, suggest about his character? His decision shows that he valued his ego over his conscience. However, his honesty and reflection of the incidence proves that he is conscious of his actions and he felt remorse. 5. (a) Compare and Contrast: Compare Orwell’s calm, detailed description of the dying elephant with his reactions to it at the time. Orwell’s calm and detailed description seems to match the dignity and attitude that the dying elephant withhold as he was fighting against its pain to stand up. Orwell observes the scene in a fashion that conveys to the reader that he is accepting this inevitable tragedy. He could be trying to detach.

right next to you. I unfortunetaly learned the hard way that is not the case. I did learn that my family will be there no matter what happens in my life. Parents are there to put food on the table, take care of the kids, and make sure they are doing the best they can for their child/children. Ibelieve that family loves you no matter what: if you mess up, get injured, basically anything that happens to you, you can go to your family for help. On January 16th 2011, I was with my two brothers, Kasey and Brandon, and my sister-in-law, Alina at Wintergreen on an exciting snowboarding trip. We got there around 9A.M. and got right on the slopes. I absolutely love snowboarding and would never give it up for anything. About 5P.M. that night, my brothers and I were in the terrain park going off jumps, grinding, doing tricks, all that good stuff. The weather was very cold, and the slopes were pretty icy, but hey, what could be the worst thing that can happen? Maybe it could be a fall right on my butt, or a crazy wipe-out that could have given everyone a good laugh. Unfortunately it was neither of those. My brothers and I were playing follow the leader, they decided to dodge this jump, little did I know it was the biggest jump on the terrain park. I was going full speed and went off the jump, and then it hit me. I .

Faisal Mustafa Professor Wheeler ENGL1302 2SE 21 July 2013 The Successful Garbage Man Ibelieve in the successful garbage man. This would be seen as a paradox to many people, however, the success does not come from financial gains but rather the level of happiness and self-fulfillment within the individual. Ibelieve in the thirty year old married man who is content with working at an ice cream shop all day and finally coming home to a wife who loves him regardless of his line of work. I used to think this scenario could never happen because my mother would always tell me that a medical degree was my only ticket to a beautiful house, life, and wife. “High paying job equals high quality wife,” she would say to me. It made perfect sense at the time. Average American children nowadays grow up being taught that they can become anything they dream of being, even if the profession is the president of the country. Although ambitions are always great to have, the truth is that most people will never end up with their dream job, house, car, spouse, etc. As I got older, the definition of the word “successful” morphed into what it means to me today. During high school, a certain girl named Megan changed my outlook on my future through the times we spent together, as best friends and significant others. For the first time in my life I was able to feel.

Kickstarter Kickstarter Collections Categories On Our Radar Live Dance Marathon Going on NOW!

Watch the live feed. ask questions, watch Matt dance for every new and/or increased pledge.

Who are you and what do you want?

I'm Matt Harding. I dance with people all over the world. I make videos of it and I put them on YouTube to show that the world is a whole lot safer and friendlier than it looks on TV. I'm working on a new project and I hope you'll help.

This sounds familiar. Have I seen one of your videos? Right! I remember that. Okay. So. you're making another video?

I hope to. That's why I'm running a Kickstarter campaign.

Ah, I get it. You want my money.

Well, yeah. That'd be nice. But I'd be just as happy getting you to dance on video and send it to me.

    Why would I do that?

Because if you do, I might come out and dance WITH you.

And why is that a good thing?

Because then you're connected to all the people I've ever danced with, like those Huli Wigmen in Papua New Guinea, and that nice lady in North Korea. And Beyoncé.

    Risks and challenges

I've made a few of these round-the-world dancing videos, so I have a pretty good idea of the work and costs involved. However, this is my first Kickstarter campaign, and my first time working with backers.

This project is far more collaborative than my previous efforts. I'm asking supporters to determine most of what goes into this video, so there is the risk that goes along with any shared creative effort. In addition:

    DISASTERS
This project will include many far-flung countries all over the world, so there is the risk of both natural and unnatural disasters altering the plan as we go.

    LOSS AND DAMAGE
Equipment could get damaged. Footage could be lost or destroyed. All the gear I use is easily replaceable and we'll constantly be backing everything up to the cloud, so those risks are mitigated but still very possible.

    INJURY
One thing that isn't so replaceable: my body. I could get injured to the point that I can no longer dance. Worse, I could die. Let's not dwell on that.

    FAMILY
Someone close to me may require my presence to a degree that I'm no longer able to travel. My family is the top priority in my life. If I need to stay home for any of them, this project is going on pause.

    COSTS
The costs of travel fluctuate a great deal. Exchange rates change. Fuel prices rise. Flights are missed and need to be re-booked. These things could limit how far we can make our travel dollars go.

    POSTCARDS
Mailing postcards to backers from remote locations could go wrong for a multitude of reasons. Addresses are miswritten or misread. Postcards get rained on or crushed or forgotten. Stuff gets lost in the mail all the time. We're factoring in the high risk that postcards won't get delivered and will do our best to resend them.

    TOURS
The select few backers who come with me on the trip will be taking on a whole other level of risk. The activities we plan may prove impossible once we're there. The destinations, unreachable. In places like Bhutan, Myanmar, and Namibia, things don't always go according to plan. We'll do everything we can to create a once-in-a-lifetime experience for those who join me on my trip, but if things don't go our way, we may have to improvise.
